Mattia Russo

He was born in Avellino, Italia and started his ballet studies in the Accademia Nazionale di Roma, under Marguerita Parrilla´s direction.
In 2008 he obtained a dance certificate at the school of Teatro alla Scala de Milan under Frederic Olivieri's direction.
In 2008 he began to form a part of Generalitat Valenciana ballet, under María Gil Lázaro's direction, where he stayed until 2010.
In 2010 he joins Introdans under Roel the direction of Voorintholt and danced in pieces by Mats Ek, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Jirí Kylián, Robert Battle, Didy Veldman, Hans van Manen.
In June 2011 he created for Introdance a performance called Frates, for 4 dancers.
In August 2012 he won the first choreography prize in the International Choreography Competition Burgos-New York. He joined the Compañía Nacional de Danza of Spain in September 2012, under the direction of José Carlos Martínez. Since then he has danced leading roles in Nippon-Koku, by Marcos Morau, Carmen, by Johan Inger, Descamino de Dos, by himself and  Diego Tortelli, Unsound, by Juanjo Arqués, Casi-Casa, by Mats Ek, Romeo and Juliet, by Goyo Montero, Walking Mad by Johan Inger and Mirage, by himself and Antonio de Rosa. He has also worked with other renowned choreographers such as Itzik Galilli, Ohad Naharin and Mats Ek among others.
As a choreographer, he has created several pieces for CND such as: Descamino de Dos, Capra Pelada (For Now in Liquid Days) and Mirage -set on an installation by  Eugenio Ampudia-.
