Rebecca Anne Connor
She was born in Toronto (Canada), where she began studying ballet in Canada’s National Ballet School under the supervision of Mavis Staines. Her teachers there were Shaun Amyot, Peggy Baker, Carina Bomers and Joanna Zimmerman, among others.
In 2008, she participated in the summer programme at the Pacific Northwest Ballet School, under the supervision of Peter Boal. And in 2009 she attended the Hamburg Ballet School's summer programme, under John Neumeier's supervision.
She joined the Compañía Nacional de Danza of Spain in September 2011, under José Carlos Martínez's artistic direction.
Since joining the company she has performed leading roles in the following ballets: Scarlatti Pas de Deux, by José Carlos Martínez; In the Middle Somewhat Elevated and Herman Schmerman Pas de Deux, by William Forsythe and Psymphony of Psalms by Jirí Kylián. Her experience includes other José Carlos Martínez works, such as Sonatas and the Don Quijote Suite. She has also dance in pieces by other renowned choreographers, such as Jirí Kylián (Falling Angels), Goyo Montero (Romeo y Julieta), Ohad Naharin (Minus 16) and George Balanchine (Allegro Brillante), among others.
