Seh Yun Kim Biography
Seh Yun Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea. She studied Ballet at the Sun-Hwa Art School in Seoul, moving on to continue her studies at The Kirov Academy in Washington DC under O. Vinogradov and Alla Sizova. She won 1st prizes at both the 2001 Luxembourg and 2002 Prague international competitions.
She was appointed by the Universal Ballet, the Boston Ballet, the Dutch National Ballet and the Zurich Ballet as a Soloist/Principal Dancer. With those companies she danced works from well known choreographers such as M. Petipa, G. Balanchine, J. Kylián, H. Spoerli, H. Manen or N. Duato, among others. Main role in 'Magnificat'-Bach by Heinz Spoerli which was Broadcasted-live on Mezzo from Zurich Opera House in 2012, later made into a DVD earning great reviews. Main role in 'Intimate Letter'- Janacek by Heinz Spoerli in Salzburg Festival in 2012 with the renowned Hagen Guartett which had been made into a DVD as well...
She joins Compania Nacional de Danza in 2012, as a principal dancer, under the artistic direction of José Carlos Martínez. Since joining CND, she has danced principal roles in Sonatas, Giselle, excerpt of Les Enfants du Paradis and Raymonda Divertimento, by José Carlos Martínez; Who Cares?, by George Balanchine; Three Preludes, by Ben Stevenson; Suite nº2 Trío, by Uwe Sholz and Unsound by Juanjo Arqués.
