Holberg Suite is Tony
Fabre's choreography inspired
by the music of the Norwegian
composer Edvard Grieg (1843-1907).
Grieg's
music offers to Fabre
the ideal accompaniment
for an abstract work where
the images happen without
a plot and provide him
total freedom at the moment
of creation. The absence
of scenery makes the music
and choreography the only
protagonists of this trip.
With this work the spectator
is invited to clear his
mind: to liberate it in
order to enjoy this.
Edvard
Grieg composed this score
for the celebration of
the bicentennial of the
birth of the Norwegian
playwright Ludvig Holberg,
also known as the Molière
of the North. Grieg is
the most famous Norwegian
composer and the first
Scandinavian composer
universally recognised.
