In French, to have a violon
d’Ingres is
to have a pastime, a hobby.
“I
have taken inspiration
from some compositions
for string by Paganini,
Bach, Vivaldi, imagining
the bodies of the dancers
as the strings of a violin,
a cello, a viola, whose violon
d’Ingres is
to dance”.
Tony
Fabre
Violon d’Ingres is the fourth work by Tony Fabre for the Compañía Nacional de Danza 2. He uses string music by the great composers of the 17th to 20th Century and creates, along with the dancers, an amusing game full of choreographic variety and diversity where only the Solos, Pas de deux and Pas de trois succeed each other without any concession whatsoever to rest. A merry, dynamic work, in keeping with the music and the dancers of this young company.
