The Choreography
Workshop of the Compañía
Nacional de Danza implies the
carrying out of an exciting
project for which a groupof
dancers join forces with the
intention of venturing into
the field of choreography. The
work is carried out on a voluntary
basis and outside the dancers'
normal working hours. A close
collaboration is set in place
between the authors of the works,
the interpreters thereof and
the remaining collaborators.
Music, wardrobe, scenography,
lights, everything is thought
out and, in many cases, carried
out personally by the dancers
themselves.
The Workshop gives the opportunity for those artists who, during the rest of the year, interpret the works of other creators, to give shape to their own inspiration or to their own dreams. It also provides an opportunity to explore the different aspects involved in the organisation of a spectacle, taken as a whole. But, above all, it provides a greater understanding, on the young creators' part, of their own profession as dancers. Values such as discipline, rigour, respect and one's own capacity for work are appreciated from a different perspective, that of a choreographer. And it is then that the relationship of the latter with the dancer reveals all its meaning. In fact, many of these artists feel more attracted to the Workshop project by this very possibility of analysing their profession from a different angle rather than from a wish to commence to establish themselves as choreographers.
Nevertheless, this enriching experience could well lead to the birth of new choreographers and thus constitutes a starting point for a future collaboration between some of the creators and the Compañía Nacional de Danza. In any case, they represent the future of dance and are the reservoir of talent which could supply creators of choreography in future years.

La réponse, tu l’as.
