CND2 - CHEVI MURADAY BIOGRAPHY
CND2 GUEST CHOREOGRAPHERS 90/11
Chevi Muraday began his ballet studies at the Escuela de Carmen Senra School, continuing his formal training under Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham and at Steps and Peri Dance in New York. In 1989 he joined the Carmen Senra Company.
Three years later, in 1992, he presented his first major piece as a choreographer at the VIIth Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid dance awards, where he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Transition / Laban Centre in London by the international jury as the outstanding young dancer at the event.
In 1994 he joined the Nower Tanz company in Düsseldorf, Germany, under the direction of Vanda Golonka later working with S.O.A.P. – Dance Theatre Frankfurt, under Rui Horta.
Since 1997 he has directed his own dance company, Losdedae, with whom he has choreographed 17 pieces, as well as a number of short works for Galas to great public and critical acclaim. With his company he has taken part in numerous festivals and shows, receiving awards from many festivals and galas, both in Spain and on the international stage. Chevi Muraday has produced the choreography for feature films such as I Love you Baby, by Menkes and Albacete (2001) and Imaging Argentina, directed by Christopher Hampton (2002).
He has long sought to combine his choreographic work with teaching at various schools both within Spain and further afield, with his courses at the Cristina Rota School worthy of special mention. Inside and Instrucciones para dejarse caer al otro lado del vacío are, to date, the first pieces he has created for the Compañía Nacional de Danza 2.
In 2006 he received the Premio Nacional de Danza national dance award in the Interpretation section given every year by the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
