YaeGee Park Biography
She was born in Seoul, South Korea, where she studied ballet in the Korean National Ballet Academy, as well as the Sunhwa Junior School of Arts and the Korean National University of Arts. She won prizes in various international competitions: first place (junior) in the 2006 Gwangju International Ballet Competition, Korea; second place (junior) in the 2008 Yury Grigorvich International Ballet Competition, Russia and second place, as well as best contemporary prize, in the 2011 Boston International Ballet Competition, USA. She joined Compañía Nacional de Danza de España in September 2012, under José Carlos Martínez´s direction. In 2014 she was promoted as a soloist dancer.
Since joining this company she has danced leading roles in Don Quixote Suite -Kitri-, Delibes Suite and Sonatas, by José Carlos Martínez, In the Middle Somewhat Elevated, by William Forsythe and Who Cares?, by George Balanchine, and Le Corsaire pas de deux, by Marius Petipa. She has also danced in other ballets by renowned choreographers such us Goyo Montero, Jirí Kylián, Johan Inger, Ohad Naharin, or Tony Fabre, among others.
