Ángel Rodríguez was born in Madrid, where he began his ballet studies at theBallet Nacional de España School, under the tutelage of Víctor Ullate. In 1985 he joined the Compañía de Danza Moderna led by Carmen Senra, where he stayed for the following 2 years, working on a range of dance techniques and performing works by Carmen Senra, Miguel López and Paul Gray.
In 1989 he joined the Compagnie du Grand Théâtre de Genève, performing soloist roles in pieces by Jirí Kylián, Hans van Manen, Ohad Naharin, Cristopher Bruce, Rudi van Danztig and Óscar Araiz, among others.
In 1992 he joined the Compañía Nacional de Danza, where he remained until 1996 performing numerous pieces for his artistic director, Nacho Duato, as well as other internationally respected choreographers. During this period he also created the choreography piece Des-angel-hada for the CND’s dance workshop.
In 1999 he began his collaboration with the Compañía de Carmen Roche, for whom he created Eternity and a Day, Lachrymae Amantis, Alma de Viola and El Llanto de Teresa. In 2001 he became the assistant director of the company.
Con un silencio en la boca is his first work for the Compañía Nacional de Danza 2.
