CND2 - AMAURY LEBRUN BIOGRAPHY

CND2 GUEST CHOREOGRAPHERS 90/10

Amaury Lebrun PortraitAmaury Lebrun was born in France, where he began her ballet studies at the perstigious Ballet du Nord. He later completed his training at the School of American Ballet in New York, even being selected by Jerome Robbins for one of his productions.

Throughout his career he has worked in a number of top European dance companies such as the Ballet du Rhin, the Deutsche Staatsoper and the Ballet de l’Opéra de Nice, as a soloist. Over this period he attracted critical attention performing the work of choreographers such as Maurice Béjart, Carolyn Carlson, Nils Christe, Maryse Delente, Balanchine and José Limón among others.

In the year 2000 he joined the Compañía Nacional de Danza, performing in numerous pieces choreographed by Nacho Duato, as well as other internationally renowned choreographers such as Jirí Kylián, Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe, Jacopo Godani, Örjan Andersson and Mats Ek.

It was during his period at the Ballet de l’Opéra de Nice that he began to become seriously interested in moving over to the role of choreographer himself. Inspiration was his first major piece, one which incidentally is still part of the Company's repertoire.

In 2002 he won his first choreography award at the Certamen Internacional de Burgos, festival for his piece entitled Kenmey. In 2004 he created La Rose de l’Infante for the Purchase College of New York as well as Sin Título 1 for the Teatro Principal in the Spanish city of Burgos, whilst a year later, in 2005 he premiered Between Days at the 7th Choreography Workshop, held by the Compañía Nacional de Danza at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid. Passing Birds is his first work for the Compañía Nacional de Danza 2, Ewes, in 2010 is the second one.
