The Company travels to Úbeda in June with Carmen.
The Compañía Nacional de Danza (Spain) makes the first stop of it’s South Tour in Úbeda, the 4th of June of 2021, with Carmen, one of the most iconic pieces of it’s repertoire. The Company we will perform at the Plaza de Toros de Úbeda as part of the 33º edition of the Festival de Música y Danza de Úbeda with a piece exclusively choreographed by Johan Inger for the Company. This work was awarded with the renowed Benois de la Danse in 2016. Carmen is created by an amazing artistic team where we can find incredible proffessionals such as David Delfín (costume design), Gregor Acuña-Pohl (dramaturgy), Curt Allen Wilmer (set design), Tom Visser (lighting design) and Marc Álvarez (original music).
“I am happy to be able to inaugurate the 33º edition of the Festival de Úbeda with the Company. This festival is well-known both nationally and internationally for it’s diverse and quality programme. For this occassion I’ve decided to present one of the most emblematic pieces of our current repertoire: Johan Inger’s Carmen. I am thrilled to connect with our public once again after such a dreadful period full of restrictions. I hope that the wonderful city of Úbeda welcomes us with the same enthusiasm and passion that we go with. I am sure that this show will be an exciting experience for both the public and the Company’s team.” Joaquín De Luz
