Percussion for six men

Vicente Nebrada

Eclectic and relentlessly dynamic, it is probably Vicente Nebrada's best-known choreography and one of the most interesting contributions to contemporary dance as far as its masculine side is concerned. It demands a maximum of precision and energy in each of the movements of the six men who, individually or collectively, move on stage to the pulse of the complex rhythmic articulations created by Lee Gurst. Resistance, expressiveness, total dedication are essential requirements of the six performers in charge of plastically translating the figures of the marimba, the bongos, the castanets, the xylophone, the tambourine and the timpani.

  • World premiere by: Harkness Ballet, 1969
