In French, to have a violon d’Ingres is to have a pastime, a hobby.

“I have taken inspiration from some compositions for strings such as those by Paganini, Bach and Vivaldi, imagining the bodies of the dancers as the strings of a violin, a cello, a viola, whose violon d’Ingres is to dance”. Tony Fabre

Violon d’Ingres supposed the fourth work by Tony Fabre for the Compañía Nacional de Danza 2. He uses string music by the great composers of the XVII to XX century and creates, along with the dancers, an amusing game full of choreographic variety and diversity where the Solos, Pas de deux and Pas de trois come in succession without any concession whatsoever to rest. A merry and dynamic work.
