Course at the CND headquarters by Luis Gadea, INAEM risk prevention technician
The activity at our headquarters and mainly the work of the dancers has been underway for a few weeks with daily rehearsals and classes with new repeat teachers and guest teachers. In order to avoid injuries and condition the body for the demanding professional activity they carry out, the dancers are attending a course taught by Luis Gadea, professor of dance, specialist in exercise physiology and risk prevention technician at INAEM.
In the different sessions of the course, the risk factors to which dancers are exposed, derived, in many cases, from high work rates, high personal demands, the desire for perfectionism, excessive responsibility or competitiveness, are studied and They give guidelines to minimize their harmful effects on the physical, mental or social health of dancers.
Luis Gadea is a professor in Dance Sciences at the María de Ávila Superior Conservatory of Madrid (2013-2023). He was the first physiotherapy therapist at the National Dance Company of Spain, where he worked for thirteen years (2000-2013). In addition to her undergraduate studies in dance and physiotherapy, she has a doctorate in Health Sciences and two official master’s degrees in physical activity and health, in physical preparation and in occupational risk prevention. He provides methodology training for teachers in professional dance conservatories and collaborates with prestigious dance institutions and universities, where he provides training in different master’s degrees, both in Spain and abroad.
Luis is always welcome at the CND. Today, as a senior occupational risk technician at INAEM, he crosses the threshold of the studio and the affection and admiration of the dancers and CND staff becomes palpable in hugs, laughter and confidences. I hope we continue to see each other.
