Muriel Romero presents her project for the CND and her new team at a press conference

The new artistic director of the Compañía Nacional de Danza, Muriel Romero, has presented to the media the objectives and main lines of action of her artistic project for the next five years, until 2029, when the CND will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

She was accompanied by the members of her entire team: Mayda Islas, deputy director; Ana Catalina Román, assistant artistic director; Violeta Gastón, master repetiteur; Amanda del Monte, production director; Pachi Cabanillas, technical director, and Arturo Barral, manager.

Among its objectives, Muriel has highlighted its desire to contribute to strengthening the choreographic creation of the Company, giving way to women who have never worked with the CND and who are a national and international reference in this field, as La Ribot, Cuqui Jerez, Monica Runde, Marina Mascarell, Crystal Pite or Gisèle Vienne; as well as choreographers as important as John Crancko and other emerging character who can make known their work to the general public.

Another of the bets of his artistic project is based on the idea of dance as a collaborative art, connected with disciplines such as music, literature, philosophy, science and that like them, makes use of new digital tools and technological languages.

The project will also seek to expand CND’s commitment to groups with diverse abilities, regardless of the rural or non-rural environment of the audiences it aims to approach from a feminist, collaborative, inclusive and diverse vision.

These and other details that were presented at the press conference are part of the DIRECTOR PLAN OF THE NATIONAL DANCE COMPANY

Once the objectives were explained and questions from the media were answered, the event ended with the performance of an improvisation piece by the dancers who are currently part of the Company.
