Repertoire
Sonatas
Martínez’s inspiration when creating this piece starts in a profound study of Scarlatti and Father Soler’s score. Like in a sonata, the choreographic phrases transform, repeat and evolve with the rhythm of the musical structure. It could be likened to an exercise in style, as Balanchine once did in some of his pieces. Each dancer represents a music instrument from the orchestrated version of sonatas, playing their own choreographic score.
