The Death of the Swan

Mikhail Fokine

Maya Plisetskaya gives new vigor to this classic choreography. Plisetskaya's swan is a less resigned metaphor for life and death in which the frantic flapping of hands and arms is nothing more than a demonstration of her will to cling to existence.
