CND Educational Booklets
CND EDUCATIONAL PROJECT
As part of the educational project designed by José Carlos Martinez, involving education and advancement, these series of little books are committed to the dissemination of the history and repertoire of the company, they are distributed free of charge to those who attend our open rehearsals. Choreographers, emblematic titles and other issues directly related to our daily activities will star this publications that, with the support of the Loewe Foundation, are committed to approach the dance discipline to the public in a straightforward and affordable way. Each title has two versions: one for young readers and another aimed at adults.
After the first booklet dedicated to the choreographer George Balanchine, Carmen -a historical ballet- was the second of our educational publications coinciding with the premiere of the choreography that Johan Inger created especially for the CND in 2015. After that other titles as Dance on Points, Don Quixote or William Forsythe were published coinciding with different moments in the programs staged by Compañía Nacional de Danza.
The texts and the image selection of the educational books are elaborated by Elna Matamoros, Ballet Master of the CND, who has done important research in Dance History and has a Master of Arts in Dance Education at the New York University.

CND EDUCATE 2019
"SILENCE, WE'RE DANCING!" WORKSHOP
This all inclusive movement workshop has been created by the Compañía Nacional de Danza for the C.E. Ponce León. It has been designed for children with and without hearing and/or intellectual disability, in an environment of bilingual educational inclusion. Our aspiration is to provide students with a new communication tool, using the body, and offering the educational staff of the center tools and guidelines for improvisation. The suggested activities and movement guidelines contribute to strengthening creativity, developing group and individual listening and discovering the personal movement of the students.
#encuentrodepuntos: artistic research, dance and education
When we speak about contemporary performing arts the body is not only an expressive tool or an exclusive therapeutic field; education and body don’t merge only to train dancers or impose codes of conduct; the choreography is not limited to create beauty or to set up bodies for memory.
This research is directed towards those interdisciplinary places that appear from the performing arts; those tools, devices and methodologies that arts research brings and collects from the education. This is a necessary reflection on education, the body and its artistic, political and social contexts; a reflection about behaviors in which contemporary performing arts and school meet.
What has been #encuentrodepuntos?
#encuentrodepuntos was proposed as a workplace and a theoretical and practical reflection around artistic research and dance in education. The proposal is organized around ten meetings (five working sessions and five follow-up sessions) where we meet with a group of teachers, CND dancers and performing arts professionals.
Work sessions structure:
Block 1. Meeting Points
The first section is dedicated to read a few texts and watch videos from which we discuss about the artistic research and the body in education, so that might reflect on what mechanisms of these disciplines can be applied at school.
Block 2. Find the points
Development of stage, relational and choreographical exercises on which investigate from the practice, away from the production of manuals of exercises for the sake of exploration and implementation of research-creation methodologies of other possibilities.
Block 3. Points found
The sessions concluded with a space for dialogue to find common points between the subjects studied, their practical applications in the classroom and the axes of essential discussion of the ideas that emerged around the body and school.
The addressed subjects in the working sessions had also continuity in follow-up sessions, focusing on the following areas:
• Classroom and dissent
• Bodies in classroom
• Daily choreographies
• Diverse bodies
During follow-up sessions the possibilities of practical application of the research group were studied and recorded. From these observations, we created a blog to share texts and materials which acts as a store of exercises, dynamic and devices.
Each of the participants employed the sessions differently, here we see one of the initiatives that emerged from these meetings:

#encuentrodepuntos is a proposal designed by Elena Blazquez, Anto Maria Escobar and Rodriguez from the research project Teatralidades Disidentes (HAR2012-34075), Faculty of Fine Arts of Cuenca (UCLM) with the support of ARTEA, Lova and Compañía Nacional de Danza.
TO INCREASE THE COMMUNITY CONTACT WITH THE ART OF DANCE
The project of the CND under the direction of José Carlos Martinez has led the organization to the creation of an education plan that has regained the didactic and pedagogical vocation of Compañía Nacional de Danza. It is in our mission the preservation, dissemination and transmission of the heritage of dance, and to present this art to the young (and adult) public so they will understand and incorporate it into their leisure and culture.
The objectives of this project are directly linked to the welfare of Spanish society, it is the duty of Compañía Nacional de Danza to increase the community contact with the art of dance, promote its practice and contribute to revalue of the professionals who are engaged with this discipline.
In this section you can find activities of various kinds, from research meetings about dance and the performing arts to school visits and educational publications.
