Carmen, the story

Margarita del Mazo and Concha Pasamar

The story of Carmen reflects the same passions and values expressed by movement in Johan Inger’s Carmen, the ballet.

The Compañía Nacional de Danza (CND), directed by Joaquín De Luz, and the Cuento de Luz publishing house present Carmen, the story.

This album, written by Margarita del Mazo and illustrated by Concha Pasamar, reflects the passions and values expressed through movement in the ballet Carmen, by Johan Inger.

His choreography, originally created for the CND and awarded the Benois de la Danse in 2016, drives this story in its own new take on the universal themes of the original work but, this time, viewed through the innocent gaze of a child.

Both dance and literature combine inducing us to reflect on the interpretations and misinterpretations of love, as well as on the rejection of any kind of violence.
