The Swan

Ricardo Cue

"Long ago I had in my imagination a choreography of a man swan until one day, being on Lake Geneva, next to Maya Plisetskaya, watching some swans, I told her that in their movements the females from the males could not be distinguished. Maya asked me to do a choreography for a man swan".

“I was inspired to create this choreography, mainly, in the flutter and displacement of the swans. The magnitude of ‘The Swan’ is loneliness at the time of his death. His feelings have no measure. The soul is freed from its mortal body to consecrate itself to eternity. It is a dance in which the majesty of body movement and spiritual virtuosity takes us to the higher plane that is art. Art that turns death into beauty and emotion. It’s a magical moment.”
